... Or is it only men who can find this relationship through the Christian religion?  Even though baptism is offered to both men and women, the attachment to the literal “historical” Jesus, has reduced the “fully human, fully Divine” doctrine to illustrations of the male Jesus.

These sculptures give form to my individuation in relation to the archetype of Christ.  I feel affirmed in my real historical femaleness.  I don’t doubt the masculinity of the historical Jesus.  But I want to liberate his vision of how to be human from its exclusively masculine moorings.

These sculptures are in the collection of Westhill Endowment, Birmingham, UK. They can be loaned for exhibitions, meditations and workshops. www.westhillendowment.org (go back)
